Click-through rate (CTR) is one of the three factors that determine how much money a website will generate. The other two factors are page impressions and average cost per click. In essence, every monetization strategy – whether ads, affiliate links or product/services – requires visitors to click through one or more links. In this post [...]

Ebook Promotional Cover
November 17, 2011
For the past week I’ve been working at promoting my books better through my sites. The books are now visible on the frontpage of Siforia. I’ve also enlarged the sidebar book ad over at PVT, similar to how the books appear on HOS and PWM. Finally, I’ve added a sidebar book ad here on WEJ [...]
YouTube Copyright Infringement Resolved
November 16, 2011
The copyright infringement issue last week, where some of my YouTube videos had been reuploaded to YouTube and MediaFire, has now been resolved. MediaFire responded promtly and in 4 days time they removed not only the files, but also the account of the perpetrator. YouTube’s Copyright Complaint Form took a few more days to process. [...]
Smashwords eBooks Approved
November 15, 2011
Today Smashwords approved my ebooks for premium distribution. Any book uploaded to Smashwords will be sellable through their website, but only well-formatted books will be distributed by them. To be permitted for distribution the books have to go through a manual review process which takes quite a while. Even though my books are approved, it [...]
Adwords Account Suspension
November 15, 2011
Now this is interesting. I received a mail today that my AdWords account had been suspended. The mail gave no explanation as to why and no means of fixing it. It surprises me that Google would not give any warnings or explanations for such radical behavior. Since I was not running any campaigns at the [...]
New Blog Theme
November 14, 2011

I had to do it sooner or later. The Mac inspired theme I used previously, and still use on my other sites, works fine on content sites with a small number of well organized pages. However, it was not suited for this twitter-like blog where I ramble on and on about my online endevours. I [...]
New Domain Names
November 11, 2011
With my current website projects complete I feel it may be time to start some new projects. For this purpose I’ve registered two new domain names – Renewable-Energy-Alternatives.com and Energy-Storage-Alternatives.com. These subjects are very interesting to me and they are becoming more and more important as fossil fuels are depleting rapidly and peak oil has [...]
Smashwords Ebook Distribution
November 8, 2011
So far CreateSpace has been my distributor and publisher for my physical books. Now I have gotten a ebook distributor as well. I choose to go with Smashwords. The largest competitors include BookBaby, Lulu and Fastpencil, but according to my research none of them offer as good a deal as Smashwords does. Their royalties and [...]
YouTube Copyright Infringement Notification
November 7, 2011
I received an e-mail today from a kind YouTube user that some of my videos had been copied and reposted on another YouTube channel. In addition to the channel, the person was also using the videos on his blogger website and had uploaded them to his MediaFire account. Typically, I don’t pursue copyright infringers if [...]
