I enjoyed reading about your book sales and advertising adventures. However, I am compelled to leave your site prematurely because of the animated blogroll feature. It very much annoys me with its constant motion. It is every bit as annoying as the jumping person ads seen on some websites.

Ive been meaning to read this and just never obtained a chance. Its an issue that Im incredibly interested in, I just started reading and Im glad I did. Youre a terrific blogger, one of the best that Ive seen. This blog certainly has some info on topic that I just wasnt aware of. Thanks for bringing this stuff to light.

Thanks for the input. From my research and experience meta keywords won't have any effect on traffic or search ranking whatsoever. The meta description though could be valuable, thanks for pointing that out.

The ad vs donations idea is interesting. I have removed the donation buttons for all sites but this one. It remains here for a very specific purpose. People who are really interested in supporting me or one of my sites will find their way here where they can donate.

Though donations are sporadic at best, I do receive an occasional donation now and then. And anytime that happens it blows the ad income away for months to come. So in this specific instance the donation button outperforms what an ad would give in the same spot.
